Wrong and Limited Thinking

Seeing is believing

It seems we are always limiting ourselves with what we want in life and can’t even THINK about it in a grandiose way. Then we focus on the wrong areas and bring more of what we don’t want, rather than what we do want. The best thing about having a mind is that there really is no limit to what we can create in our heads, but most people are afraid to dream in a really big way and with a lot of color and detail.

We have been trained to think about things in a modest way and inevitably that is exactly what we get is a modest amount. If you look back at events in your life, like me, you could probably see all of the times that you wished and focused on something and then POOF you got just exactly that, no more and no less. There were numerous times in my younger years where I was always struggling with money and lived hand to mouth. I would think over and over to myself “just let me be able to make rent, I just need to make rent” and then all of a sudden, I would come into a little extra money that would help me to make the rent payment, but not a dime more. I should have been thinking in terms of more prosperity and increasing my financial situation, so I would not have to worry about not just making rent, but paying any of my bills ever again. If focusing my vibrational energy and thoughts worked to give me the rent money I needed, why wouldn’t it work if I needed more help financially beyond just making the rent? So you see, it is the lack of belief in our dreams and goals that keep us from thinking about it in a big and unlimited way. You must allow yourself to do this on a daily basis, with no limitation and go as far as your mind will let you. The more detailed, colorful and big your visual images are, the easier it is for Universal energy to feel your energy and connect to you and make it a reality. When we visualize something, you are creating an image or a picture in your mind that will be the final result of what will happen in the future.  You can visualize something good or you can visualize something bad and if you hold that vision steady and firm for an extended time, it will most likely happen that way.

Take two artists for example, one artist decides that he is going to paint a picture of an ocean, so he takes a white canvas and paints an area across the bottom of the canvas in light blue  and then does nothing more. The second artist also decides to paint an ocean, so he paints an area across the bottom of his canvas light blue as well, but then he adds some white and grey to make it look like there is sea foam and waves. He adds a few seagulls above the blue water area and then he adds ships in the background after that. If you saw the first artist’s painting you might be able to figure out what he was trying to paint, which is an ocean, but then again maybe he just painted half of a white page blue, but you can’t tell for sure because it’s vague. The second artist however, you would have no doubt that he painted an ocean, because of all the extra detail that he put in there, his image is crystal clear.

If you are sending out a message in your mind of a goal or dream that you want to happen, it must be clear as day and you must keep that image with you with a strong intention. When you create ideas you should only focus on the ideas themselves and not be distracted by the external conditions around you. We have more power when we look inward, because our inward mind and body, create the outer world we live in. So there is no point in looking outside, it starts inside the mind first.  Seeing an image in detail makes the mind believe it is possible, then it creates a feeling from there and that feeling ignites a fire that sends your vibrational energy out and it is received on the other end by the Universe, which brings you the conditions to make that feeling and image a reality.

We get what we focus on, so be careful what you are thinking about. If you focus on not having money, then the universe gets the message and it sends you more of that thing you don’t want… it sends “no more money”. For some reason people don’t believe that we can create good and abundant things to happen in our lives. The Universal laws works perfectly whenever we focus on negative stuff and limitation, so why wouldn’t it work perfectly to bring you positive things and prosperity? It will and it does!

A good way to stay away from the wrong type of thinking is to identify what thoughts you are thinking and the root of where they come from. Is it a good thought or a bad one, and how does it make you feel?  Let’s say that you hate your job and you really want to find a better one, instead of stewing about the current job that you hate, focusing on your horrible boss and how you can’t wait to get out of there, replace those thoughts with what you would like to have in a new job. Dare to think about it right down to the very details of how you want your new kick ass boss to be, along with your wonderful new co-workers and visualize the type of company you would like to work for and see how much detail you can add to this vision. There is no reason to hold back, nothing is stopping you from having abundant thoughts.

One of the best movies I have seen that really shows how visualization works is The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. The movie is based on the real life of Chris Gardner who spent 1 year living homeless with his young son before starting his own successful company, which eventually made him a wealthy man. The character is quite an optimist despite those tough years of being homeless and sleeping in public bathrooms and he is very clear about what he wants in his life. There is one scene where Chris is walking down the street and a financial advisor pulls up in a fancy sports car and parks the car on the curb, right where Chris is standing. With a lot of chutzpah, Chris approaches the guy with a big smile and says “nice car, how do I get one of those?” (with an emphasis on the I part) and the man answers, “by working in there” and he points to a large financial building. Chris Gardner made the decision right then and there that he too could get a job in that high end financial building and have a car like that one day. It never occurs to him that it can’t be done or it’s not his for the taking. He is now the CEO of his own stockbrokerage firm Gardner Rich & Co. and is quite successful, something the character manifested into his own life, because he was free of limited thinking.

Be clear about your wants, not the “don’t wants” in your thinking. Don’t send the wrong message, not with your thoughts, your visualization or most importantly with what you say to people! The words we speak are affirmations, so be sure when talking to others that you state what you want and the Universe will hear you loud and clear. If you say I hope this or I hope that, then you are leaving it up to chance in your mind, but when you state something firmly, I am going to do this or I will do that, it becomes an affirmation and your mind will believe you if you state it often enough. People have a tendency to worry, that if they state something as if it has already happened or is on its way, they fear it won’t really happen and they will look like idiots. When this happens, you have identified that your belief is not really in place. If you believe in your thoughts, those fears will no longer be there and you won’t care. I personally struggled with this a lot, where certain people in my life were concerned. It seemed if I stated something to them, it would not happen and then I would get a lecture about how I shouldn’t mention anything until I know for sure it will happen. They were teaching me to limit my thinking and limit my dreams without realizing it. It was from a fear of failure that this advice came from and I bought into it big time. But it’s no one’s fault but my own that I allowed someone else’s opinion to derail me from thinking big. I needed to believe my statements and thoughts enough to dream in a big way and let my insecurities go. These days, I paint my pictures with a lot of colors and details, so when I send my order out to The Universe, it knows exactly what I want.

I was born and raised mostly in Minnesota, the youngest of 5 girls. I never went onto college as my sisters did, because the only two things I had ever wanted to do was work with horses or pursue music and I figured I would not need a conventional education for either of those. I chose to pursue a career in horse training three days after graduating from high school and did this for many years. Horribly misguided by others I met along the way, I eventually became disillusioned with the horse industry and it's lack of respect for the horses, so I moved on from that and I never looked back. I then went into music, which was my second love and was an aspiring singer/songwriter part time for another 10 years while I worked administrative jobs on the side. This also went to the wayside when it did not take me where I wanted to go. These days I am married and currently live in Colorado with my husband, two dogs and a horse. In looking back on my life I could never understand why I would get so close to reaching my dreams and goals, but then watch them slip away as easily as they had come. As a young horse trainer starting out, I had two very good opportunities to work for a woman who was former world champion rodeo star and also for a close relative of another rodeo star, who had been a world champion many times over. I rejected both of these opportunities early on, but with great regret later, because my head was not in the right place to accept them. Even though I had manifested both opportunities during that time and without realizing what I was doing, was unable to keep them. The same thing happened in the music industry. I had the experience of recording demos in both Austin Texas and Nashville at separate times, and I was given the opportunity to be represented by a few producers in Nashville as well, both eventually going nowhere. These hit and miss opportunities that never really got off the ground, soon became an up and down journey that I went through for several years, until I started studying Universal laws of manifestation. Early on, the first book my cousin had handed me about negative and positive attraction was indeed inspiring, but telling someone to simply think positively is not going to leave a lasting impression, so I fell back into my old ways of finding opportunity and losing opportunity. Years later, I eventually moved onto another book and things went a little deeper, but I was still not quite “getting it” because I had so many questions and felt things were missing in the authors explanation of how this all works. I eventually found The Master Key System written by Charles Haanel and that's when things really came together for me. His explanation of why Universal and Natural Laws of Attraction work by bringing science and spirituality together, instead of separating them as we have been taught, really made a lot of sense to me. All of my questions were answered and the holes were filled in. It was the connection of science and spirituality that made this book a little different than the others. Nothing I had read, had gone quite that deep before. I started to use The Master Key System and saw that opportunities were coming to me a lot more easily than in the past and I was able to keep them. In using these principles, I launched my first successful small business when I was well into my 40’s, as an equine massage therapist and at a time when I thought that I was going to be stuck working mindless admin jobs for the rest of my life. It was amazing how it brought me full circle into working with horses again. I have continued to use The Master Key Principles for every part of my life, both physically and mentally. I am a lifetime, work in progress student and a true believer of these wonderful methods.
