Gratefulness and Learning to Receive

gratefulness learning to receive

As we move into a New Year, this is a good time for people to reflect on the good things in their lives from last year and focus on gratefulness. Some of you may think this sounds so cliched, as people always make this statement at the beginning of the New Year. This is true, but it’s still important, as this sets the tone for the new coming year, and it’s best to start out with a firm affirmation of gratefulness, so there is more good to come to you for the future.

There are two main reasons why I write this blog. First, I like to help people and since I have had such great success using manifestation and The Master Key System, I want others to have the same. I have never known a stranger, so I enjoy helping others that are interested in learning more about this. The second reason is that it helps me as well. Whenever I talk about the power of manifestation and The Master Key System, my vibrational energy goes much higher. When I vibrate at a higher positive level, great things start to happen in my life. It’s not even stuff that I am focusing on or intending to happen, just random good things come out of nowhere and it happens fairly consistently. I believe in this so much, that as I write and talk about it, I’m putting out a strong positive energy that matches up with any other good energy that is out there and then it boomerangs right back to me all good stuff. So you see, it’s a win win for everyone. This may give people the wrong impression, so let me clarify a little further. I chose the title of this blog “Gratefulness and Learning to Receive” for a good reason. A lot of people do not know how to receive anything, they only know how to give. Well now you are probably thinking to yourself, well isn’t giving a good thing? Of course it is, but giving to yourself is just as important as giving to someone else. The Master Key System works best when both parties benefit in any given transaction. When my blog helps someone and it helps me too, then we both benefit from it. My benefit may be as simple as the good feeling I get, when I have helped someone else.

I wasn’t always a person who was good at receiving. Some things I was, such as Christmas presents, or a home cooked meal from a neighbor, but I wasn’t good at receiving compliments and I was not good with people buying me things randomly such as dinner or whatever. I would reach for the check first and pay the bill, even when I could not afford to do so and sometimes putting myself in a financial bind. It’s been a hard habit to break over the years, but I am balanced with it now. Sometimes I pick up the check and sometimes someone else does. I give a lot, but I also receive a lot now too, and much more graciously. One time when I was a freshman in high school, my friend Laurie, complimented me on how pretty I looked and how fresh my skin was, as she put it. Well I felt like a plain Jane that day and I sure enough told her that in my response to her compliment. In other words, I did not accept her compliment and simply say thank you. Instead, I made a deprecating remark about myself and she got mad. I remember her asking me in an irritated tone why I could never accept a compliment from someone, as I had responded like that before. She was actually hurt and angry that I threw her compliment back at her, when she was trying to be nice and sincere. This was a harsh lesson for me and it took years for me to understand. In my mind, I thought I was being humble and I was a little embarrassed by her compliment because I thought it was undeserved. When someone is giving to you, they must feel that you deserve it. Your job is to accept it graciously, because not accepting things can be a sign of being ungrateful and that is not the vibe that you want to give out. Universal Law recognizes ungratefulness just as much as it recognizes gratefulness. When you are ungrateful for something, then it won’t be sent to you again, because your focus and energy was negative and you are basically saying, I didn’t want that. Remember like attracts like. It also signals poor self-esteem and that you don’t deserve good things.

There is nothing wrong with a simple thank you when someone gives you something. This shows them you appreciate what they have done and most importantly, it signals to Universal Law that you liked what you were given and you want more of that. Learning to receive is one of the strongest affirmations you could possibly give out and that affirmation is “that you want more of that same good thing”.  So you see, learning to receive goes way beyond what our parents teach us about being polite and accepting something. Having said that, this doesn’t mean that you cannot re-gift the ugly plastic watermelon shaped fruit bowl that someone gave you, but be sure to thank them for it and mean it! Be thoughtful of their effort and then maybe you can find a home for that bowl to someone who could actually use it.  How you feel and accept things is what counts, your feeling = your vibration and that is the signal Universal Law is receiving.

Sometimes finding something to be grateful about when times are tough and you have endured some catastrophic event can be difficult, so if you can’t find anything about that particular situation to be grateful about, shift your thought to something else in your life that went well and focus on that.  This at least will raise your vibrational energy out-put to a positive level again and can bring better things to you on the next round. I have seen many people post on discussion forums about Laws of Attraction and how they see it as a quick fix to their issues. They get upset if they miss another day of not thinking correctly, it’s better to stay away from this type of wrong thinking and in worrying about it. Tomorrow is another day and you can try again. I have stopped worrying about missed opportunities as we call them, it’s a waste of my time and energy. Just as I shy away from trying to have any kind of meaningful conversation with someone I know is not listening, or is blocking me out before I even get started. I place my energy in the right places now and at the right time and forego all else. As you get older, you will hopefully see the importance in focusing energy in the right places.  Gratefulness and learning to receive is definitely two things worth putting your energy into. I choose to be grateful on a daily basis, and this helps me to not worry about other things that are not going as they should or that I cannot control.Letting go of the control part is key. Miraculously these things seem to eventually work themselves out anyway, when you put the faith into them.

A few years back we were still renting the condominium that we now own. We had only been in the condo for about a year when I received an email telling us the owner decided not to renew our lease, because he was going to sell this place and cash in on the climbing real estate market here in Denver. We were devastated, because they promised when we moved in, that they had no plans to sell this place. So the last thing we wanted was to have to move again, as we were really happy in this new location and condo. At first the owner asked if we wanted to buy it and we said no that we were not ready to buy and were upset they had lied to us. Well we hadn’t been paying attention to the housing market and we had no idea that both real estate and rent had gone WAY up here in Denver. As I went out looking at places to rent, I was depressed, not this again I thought to myself, and everything was very expensive and not all that great for the rent amount they were asking. One place even told us we could not bring our beagle Stanley, because they were too verbal. In seeing the reality of the situation, Kio suggested that maybe we should try to buy this place after all, and I knew that he was right. I was happy here, we just didn’t feel that the timing was right, both financially and for other reasons, but when you are in sync with something, you should flow with it, as it will rarely lead you astray. We went back to the owner and said that we wanted to buy it, but now he was mad at us and he said NO! He told us we needed to move out, then bid against all other prospects and if we bid the highest, then we could take the property and move back in. Well this was completely unreasonable and I was a little devastated that we had “missed” our opportunity or so it seemed. I enlisted the help of a good friend of mine, who also happened to be a kick ass realtor. Jill told us to sit on it for a week or two and then go back and make a random offer, she would do her best to get the owner to reconsider. While we were waiting to do this, I spent my time walking around our condo and thinking about everything that I loved about it and how nice it was to live here. I would lay in bed at night and stare at the ceiling and think how quiet, clean and safe the area we lived in was and I honestly could not imagine living anywhere else. There wasn’t an inch of this place that I didn’t look at or admire, during this waiting period. Suddenly moving out did not even seem possible and I could NOT imagine us anywhere else. I have learned that when I cannot imagine a scenario going to the worst place, it never does. This is my signal that I am on the right vibrational track and thinking right. I felt confident.

Needless to say, Jill clenched the deal, we got a great interest rate and the owner accepted our offer. The Universal Laws worked in conjunction with me and the owner felt those vibrations clear down in Texas where he was and he reconsidered and sold to us. Now that was something worth feeling grateful for. Since then equity has built up tremendously and it continues to do so as I write this blog.  My signal and intention was…. “I want this” and I got it, all due to my gratefulness.

I was born and raised mostly in Minnesota, the youngest of 5 girls. I never went onto college as my sisters did, because the only two things I had ever wanted to do was work with horses or pursue music and I figured I would not need a conventional education for either of those. I chose to pursue a career in horse training three days after graduating from high school and did this for many years. Horribly misguided by others I met along the way, I eventually became disillusioned with the horse industry and it's lack of respect for the horses, so I moved on from that and I never looked back. I then went into music, which was my second love and was an aspiring singer/songwriter part time for another 10 years while I worked administrative jobs on the side. This also went to the wayside when it did not take me where I wanted to go. These days I am married and currently live in Colorado with my husband, two dogs and a horse. In looking back on my life I could never understand why I would get so close to reaching my dreams and goals, but then watch them slip away as easily as they had come. As a young horse trainer starting out, I had two very good opportunities to work for a woman who was former world champion rodeo star and also for a close relative of another rodeo star, who had been a world champion many times over. I rejected both of these opportunities early on, but with great regret later, because my head was not in the right place to accept them. Even though I had manifested both opportunities during that time and without realizing what I was doing, was unable to keep them. The same thing happened in the music industry. I had the experience of recording demos in both Austin Texas and Nashville at separate times, and I was given the opportunity to be represented by a few producers in Nashville as well, both eventually going nowhere. These hit and miss opportunities that never really got off the ground, soon became an up and down journey that I went through for several years, until I started studying Universal laws of manifestation. Early on, the first book my cousin had handed me about negative and positive attraction was indeed inspiring, but telling someone to simply think positively is not going to leave a lasting impression, so I fell back into my old ways of finding opportunity and losing opportunity. Years later, I eventually moved onto another book and things went a little deeper, but I was still not quite “getting it” because I had so many questions and felt things were missing in the authors explanation of how this all works. I eventually found The Master Key System written by Charles Haanel and that's when things really came together for me. His explanation of why Universal and Natural Laws of Attraction work by bringing science and spirituality together, instead of separating them as we have been taught, really made a lot of sense to me. All of my questions were answered and the holes were filled in. It was the connection of science and spirituality that made this book a little different than the others. Nothing I had read, had gone quite that deep before. I started to use The Master Key System and saw that opportunities were coming to me a lot more easily than in the past and I was able to keep them. In using these principles, I launched my first successful small business when I was well into my 40’s, as an equine massage therapist and at a time when I thought that I was going to be stuck working mindless admin jobs for the rest of my life. It was amazing how it brought me full circle into working with horses again. I have continued to use The Master Key Principles for every part of my life, both physically and mentally. I am a lifetime, work in progress student and a true believer of these wonderful methods.
