Identifying The Root of Feelings

Moose Rocky Mountain National Park

The past several weeks I have been participating in many online forum discussions about manifestation and positive attraction. It’s a popular topic on the web with over 6000 subscribers on one forum discussion site alone and just on that topic. I decided to dedicate this blog post, about what I am seeing from these discussions and some of the obstacles that people are encountering, based on their public posts and questions for help.

One of the most common things I am seeing over and over again are paranoid posts of people worrying about not thinking correctly and blowing their opportunity for a better life. They seem to be struggling with not knowing how to visualize and use creative intention long enough to see affirmations come through. I would go as far to say that they are feeling a bit panicky about this, as if they are on some kind of a time clock and need to get the right answers before the buzzer sounds.  Some of them I believe, have been terribly misguided and are pursuing positive creative thinking from a place of fear and forced thinking. I am glad to have seen these posts however, this is how I find who is struggling and falling into common pitfalls, so I can hopefully offer some insight to their issues.

For one example; I had posted a blog called Wrong and Limited Thinking so I could address issues and misconceptions, very similar to the ones I am seeing on this discussion forum. It triggered a response from a woman who saw the title of my posted link. Her first reaction was she did not like the title and admitted that she didn’t even try to read it. She thought that my title should be called Right and Unlimited Thinking, otherwise I wasn’t practicing what I was preaching. Of course it would have been wrong for me to name the blog post as she suggested, due to the fact that I was addressing people who can’t tell the difference between wrong and right thinking and unlimited and limited thinking, a common problem. So I named that blog post after the problems that people are commonly having and to draw their attention to it. I responded with my explanation and encouraged her to read the article before jumping to quickly to judgement. Shortly afterward she sent me another email and apologized for her rash judgement and did say the article was quite positive and the reason she reacted the way she did was, she had been in a positive mood and the title ignited a negative feeling in her, so she pushed away from it. I chose not to tell her (although I probably should have) that she is not in the positive mind set she believes that she is, especially if her mood can be that easily disrupted by a simple title such as Wrong and Limited Thinking.

This person has some work to do in her positive affirmation practice and needs to be more aware of the root of where her feelings are coming from, so she is truly manifesting positive energy and events into her life. Clearly she was coming from a place of fear. Fear that it would ruin her positive mood, fear that reading the mere title Wrong and Limited Thinking would cause a bolt of lightning to come out of the sky and zap the very light out of her day.  Her forced, misguided and fear based positive attraction practice was not going to get her very far, if she cannot see this. She was practicing the exact opposite of what makes synchronicity work in a person’s favor. Your feelings must come from a place of positivity, belief, confidence and allowance. In her case it was a lack of belief when she was trying to practice being positive and the root of that lack of believe, was fear. Fear of reading a title to a blog that she assumed would be negative, thus ending her short lived feelings of positivity.

The confidence someone must have in this system is going to have to be stronger than that, in order to manifest anything. Otherwise we would all be living in a bubble, shutting out day to day distractions around us, for fear it will sabotage our plans. We cannot lock ourselves up and go into hiding. The world has discord and misalignment happening every day all around us, but if you keep your thoughts positive and in order, nothing will penetrate it.  When you practice manifestation, the answer is not to bury your head in the sand and be “afraid” to see anything less than what you believe to be positive. It’s your reaction to things that count, not the exposure to it.

Sometimes you need to stop and pause for a moment, so you can identify what you are feeling until it becomes a habit and part of your everyday life and thinking. This way you can identify where the root of your feelings are coming from, a positive place or a negative one.  This is something I have gotten really good at, but it requires you being honest with yourself and sometimes being honest with ourselves is the hardest person to tell the truth to. This is because we are listening and our own worst critics.

Here are some examples of fear and positive based feelings, so you can see the connection and identify your feeling and the root of it going forward. This way you will if know you are on the right track and manifesting at full capacity in a positive way.

Negative/Fear based feelings: (just to name a few)

Worry (lack of belief)

Doubt (lack of belief)

Impatience (not allowing the proper time for things to align in your favor)

Obsessive (too much focus and doubt and coming from the wrong place)

Avoidance (procrastination and lacking of inspired action)

Lack of Acknowledgement (lack of focus)

Judgement (negative)

Criticism (negative)

Defensiveness (resistance, being a victim)

Positive/Optimistic based feelings: (also to name a few)

Optimism (positive)

Faith (belief and knowingness)

Patience (allowing time for things to manifest)

Letting Go (belief it will come)

Facing Things (inspired action)

Acknowledgement and Solution (inspired action)

Praise (positive and appreciation)

Complimentary (same as positive J )

Gratefulness (most important emotion of all, an affirmation that you want more of that good thing)

Take time to stop and identify these feelings and their roots as you practice manifesting, so you make the adjustments necessary to be sure you are thinking from the right place.

Another common issue I see on discussion forums are people repeatedly asking, how do I manifest good grades or how do I manifest a career? They were clearly under the impression that these would be handled differently. I want to emphasize that it’s OK they asked about this. There is no shame in not knowing and kudos to them for asking so they can learn, but I want to be sure to address this, so there is no confusion. Although these are two different subjects, one focusing on a career and the other on education, the synchronicity practice you would use to achieve these are the same. You use the principles of the laws of abundance and manifestation. The object you focus on is the only difference, not the process in getting there.

Right thinking = positive feelings = inspired action = faith it will come = patience while events align in your favor = gratefulness when it arrives. Keep this formula at the forefront of your mind and everything will work out as it should, just like the assistance of basic math when tackling an algebra problem. This formula provides a foundation to work from and is the surest way to get the “want” fulfilled that is in your sight.

I was born and raised mostly in Minnesota, the youngest of 5 girls. I never went onto college as my sisters did, because the only two things I had ever wanted to do was work with horses or pursue music and I figured I would not need a conventional education for either of those. I chose to pursue a career in horse training three days after graduating from high school and did this for many years. Horribly misguided by others I met along the way, I eventually became disillusioned with the horse industry and it's lack of respect for the horses, so I moved on from that and I never looked back. I then went into music, which was my second love and was an aspiring singer/songwriter part time for another 10 years while I worked administrative jobs on the side. This also went to the wayside when it did not take me where I wanted to go. These days I am married and currently live in Colorado with my husband, two dogs and a horse. In looking back on my life I could never understand why I would get so close to reaching my dreams and goals, but then watch them slip away as easily as they had come. As a young horse trainer starting out, I had two very good opportunities to work for a woman who was former world champion rodeo star and also for a close relative of another rodeo star, who had been a world champion many times over. I rejected both of these opportunities early on, but with great regret later, because my head was not in the right place to accept them. Even though I had manifested both opportunities during that time and without realizing what I was doing, was unable to keep them. The same thing happened in the music industry. I had the experience of recording demos in both Austin Texas and Nashville at separate times, and I was given the opportunity to be represented by a few producers in Nashville as well, both eventually going nowhere. These hit and miss opportunities that never really got off the ground, soon became an up and down journey that I went through for several years, until I started studying Universal laws of manifestation. Early on, the first book my cousin had handed me about negative and positive attraction was indeed inspiring, but telling someone to simply think positively is not going to leave a lasting impression, so I fell back into my old ways of finding opportunity and losing opportunity. Years later, I eventually moved onto another book and things went a little deeper, but I was still not quite “getting it” because I had so many questions and felt things were missing in the authors explanation of how this all works. I eventually found The Master Key System written by Charles Haanel and that's when things really came together for me. His explanation of why Universal and Natural Laws of Attraction work by bringing science and spirituality together, instead of separating them as we have been taught, really made a lot of sense to me. All of my questions were answered and the holes were filled in. It was the connection of science and spirituality that made this book a little different than the others. Nothing I had read, had gone quite that deep before. I started to use The Master Key System and saw that opportunities were coming to me a lot more easily than in the past and I was able to keep them. In using these principles, I launched my first successful small business when I was well into my 40’s, as an equine massage therapist and at a time when I thought that I was going to be stuck working mindless admin jobs for the rest of my life. It was amazing how it brought me full circle into working with horses again. I have continued to use The Master Key Principles for every part of my life, both physically and mentally. I am a lifetime, work in progress student and a true believer of these wonderful methods.
